Are You A Good Person?
Take the "Good Person" test to find out...

Just answer these simple questions, but remember that you have to answer them completely honestly.

1. Have you ever told a lie?
    Yes   No
I don't mean recently or as an adult, have you ever told a lie at any time in your life?

2. Have you ever stolen anything?     Yes   No
Not just recently or as an adult, at any time in your life have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you?  It doesn't matter how little what you took might have been worth, you still took it.

3. Have you ever used the name God or Jesus as a swear word?
    Yes   No
I don't necessarily mean recently, have you ever used God's name in vain at any time in your life?  Not even necessarily on purpose.  Even if you did it in pain or in anger, it still counts.

4. Have you ever disrespected your parents?     Yes   No
That means things like mouthing off, saying disrespectful things behind their backs, purposely hurting them emotionally or physically.

In the Holy Bible, God gave us a standard that can be used to determine whether or not we are a good person.  That standard is simply the rules He told us to live by.

If you answered "No" to all four questions:
Look very closely at that first question.  If you answered "no" to this question, then it was either a lie or an oversight.  Either way, change your answer to "yes."  If it was an oversight, then you are correcting it.  If it was a lie, then you have told a lie so change your answer to yes.

It is pretty much impossible for you to have gotten through your entire life without ever telling a lie.  It doesn't matter how big the lie was, any lie counts.  Even if you told a lie when you were two years old, it still counts.  Maybe checking "no" on this first question was an oversight on your part because you didn't think to consider lies you told as a very young child.  If so, go ahead and change your answer to "yes" now that you know better.

As for the other three questions, think long and hard.  Consider not only your adult life, but also your life as a child or teenager.  Go back and change any answers that need to be changed.

If you answered "Yes" to any of the four questions:
Answering "yes" to any or all of the four questions means that you are not a good person.

These four questions represent only four of the Ten Commandments (God's standard for determining if we are a good person). If we break even one of the commandments, then according to God, we are not a good person.  If we have broken any of God's Laws, then we have sinned against God and ruined our relationship with Him.  If you think you are going to heaven because you are a good person, then failing this test proves that you are not.

The only way to go to heaven by bing a good person would be to never have broken any of God's Laws ever.  Since every single one of us has broken at least one of God's Commandments at one time or another in our lives, none of us can get to heaven by being a good person.  Breaking any of God's Laws is a sin, and the Bible tells us that anyone who has sinned must be separated from God forever. The only place completely separated from God is hell.

You may say "but I don't believe in God" or "I don't believe in the Bible."  Well, if you are standing on the edge of a cliff and start to fall, and you say "but I don't believe in the law of gravity,"  what happens when you fall?  YOU DIE!  Just because you don't believe in the law of gravity doesn't mean it isn't true or doesn't exist.  It's the same with God.  You may not believe in God or in His Law now, but one second after you are dead, you will...and then it will be too late!

Now, here's the good news:

God did not give us the Ten Commandments to trap us because we humans couldn't possibly keep them all.  God gave us His Law to give us something to compare ourselves to so we could see that none of us are a good person and all of us have sinned.  Since all of us have sinned, the only way to get to heaven would be to pay for those sins--and the payment is eternal death in hell!.  Fortunately, especially since the price for sin is death, God sent his own Son to die to pay the price of death for our sins.  God's Son's name is Jesus Christ and He died an agonizing death on a cross to pay for our sins so God could forgive them.  That means that Jesus Christ is the only way to go to heaven.  Jesus said it Himself in John 14:6 of the Holy Bible: "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one can get to God except through Me."  Thinking you are a good person can't get you to heaven.  Doing good things or giving money can't do it.  Being baptized won't do it.  Only Jesus' death on a cross can get you to heaven.  Want to know how Jesus' death on a cross accomplished this?  Then read the article entitled Jesus Died On A Cross--So What?  If you already think you are saved, then you better read the article Are You Saved and make sure.
